The mango and lime farmers of Tambogrande, in northern Peru, discover that a Canadian mining company plans to dig for gold beneath their land. Their answer — a historic community referendum — becomes a symbol of grassroots resistance to extractivism.
I co-directed Tambogrande with Stephanie Boyd; the film won more than 20 international awards and travelled to festivals worldwide.
